Outfit Challenge: Revive Your Work Style by Wearing Every Item in Your Wardrobe

6.9.24

It started as a weak attempt to have more outfit options for work and, gradually became a style project for me.

I did a procedure back in May and it helped me to get rid of some of the weight I had been piling up since a diagnosis in 2020. The procedure was successful and upon resuming back at work, I asked myself

  • Do you need all the clothes in your wardrobe?
  • Why not do a spring clean to determine what to give out and what to retain?
  • How many of them will fit you now that you've lost some weight?
All these questions resulted in one answer - Why not wear every item of clothing you own and along the way determine which ones to keep and which ones to let go of? And that's how #wardrobeadventures was born on the 24th of June.

It has been 2 months now and I've been having the time of my life discovering how evolved my style is especially trying to fuse it into different items of clothing. It has been a real learning experience for me.

Decided to share a bit of this aspect of my life here on the blog and let you know what I've been up to apart from trying more skincare products and shooting makeup videos 😁

At first, the outfits I put together were sub-par, but as I've gotten used to recording the outcome and becoming comfortable in my body, I've gotten sooooo much better at putting them together. Watch all the videos here, but here are some of my faves and a little bit about each one of them

At first, there was no cohesion to the styles for the week, but after a while, I started theming them. This was one of the looks from the 'neutrals + white' week. That week was by far my favourite so far.

This is another look from that same week. Do you see why I just might start wearing only neutrals ever?

It was raining and I just pulled this look together and slipped on crocs. No way I was going to ruin a leather pair or have my trainers muddy when I have Crocs.

Before my procedure, I enveloped myself in a lof baggy, linen pants and tops. I've lost some of the weight now, but I still love the baggy style. Nothing I can do about that.

I had some fabric scraps at home sometime last year and didn't know what to do with them so I just had a skirt sewn with them. This has become one of my favourite skirts ever. I loved it then because it helped to hide my weight and still give me some style, I love the ankara skirt now because it still gives me style + a wide variety of pairings.

I love a good black flared skirt and baggy top moment. What can I say?

Weeks later, another neutral style 👌

I've had this skirt for upwards of 5 years. It has seen my weight fluctuate so many times but has not abandoned me. I love the versatility it provides with the various colours of the flowery pattern. I'm glad I can fit it into it again.

A classic t-shirt moment.

Honestly, a #wardrobeadventure series is the best way to revamp your style and feel good about yourself again. In a fashion slump? It's exactly what the doctor ordered.
