Morning Skincare Routine: My Step-by-Step Guide to Glowing Skin Before Work

One thing I have discovered is skincare is personal. No 2 routines are the same. No 2 skin types are the same and even the reaction of your skin to the environmental elements is also different. We all want glowing skin but we need to find it for ourselves most of the time.

This is the reason why skincare routines change, products change and the skin changes as well. For example, I never struggled with ingrown and chin hairs 5-7 years back, but now, they are the bane of my existence. This goes to show that everything around us influences our skin and it's appearance.

At the beginning of the year, this was my skincare routine, but 8 months later, it has evolved. Some products are now entrenched in my routine and some are new finds due to my skincare experiments and adventures.

Now, I have a more streamlined morning and night skincare routine. For my morning skincare routine, here are the products in my skincare lineup and the order of application:

  1. CosRx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser: for gentle cleansing to start my day
  2. Creightons Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Tonic: oops, I forgot to include it in the lineup! This is my absolute favourite toner in the world. It contains Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide, which means it helps fight acne, brightens the skin, and works to ensure an even tone and improved texture. I use it right after cleansing my face.
  3. CosRx Hyaluronic Acid Power Essence: I use this as my hydrating serum and use it immediately after toner.
  4. Uncover Baobab Glow-C Serum: this is my go-to Vitamin C serum. With 8% Vitamin C + 2%  Arbutin, it helps to work towards brightening the skin and fighting against free radicals that come to attack the skin.
  5. Tiam Vita B3 Source: everyone and their sister, girlfriend and wife, use this Niacinamide serum. It literally feels like the only one in the world but I can understand. It packs a punch and is extremely affordable.
  6. Nineless 10% Azelaic Serum: a new entrant into my routine. I figured the Vitamin C needed more support to brighten my facial skin and improve my hyperpigmentation so I included this in my routine. Loving it so far and into my second bottle.
  7. Arami Hydra Gel: can I just explain that this moisturiser feels like it is cocooning your skin in a layer of moisture? I love how this feels when I'm applying it to my face. You can't dab this in, you literally have to rub it on your face and spread it. When I feel like I might be wasting it by using it as is, I lighten it with the Arami Joy Oil. A few drops always does the trick.
  8. SkinScience Sunscreen Lotion: I only started using this after the Beauty Hut store launch and I'm impressed with it already. Being the budget queen that I am, I like the fact that it is very creamy and so a little goes a long way. It takes a considerable amount of time for my skin to absorb and the white cast to disappear. No, I don't do 2 or 4 fingers with this product because I've got places to go and things to do. So far, a half a teaspoon amount into my palm is all I need.

This would typically have been the end of my morning skincare routine lineup but I took my skin brightening a notch higher and purchased the JuneDerm Brightening Discolouration Fade Serum. I switch this up with the Nineless Azelaic Acid. Let's see how it goes.

Have you used any of the products here? Do you have any more recommendations for my hyperpigmentation? Pls share
